My wife and I have been ministering at Sawankhalok Church since January of 2007. It has been such a joy to see the saints growing in the word of God as we teach it verse by verse, and get to know them be able to share God’s love with the body here. The church has been in this town for about fifty years. One of the elderly members likes to take pictures, and he show ed me some old black and whites he took of the church way back when. Basically the same, except much bigger. It seems that over the years through lack of a shepherd, the people have gradually moved on. But we are encouraged to see many people returning, and new people being added little by little as the Lord moves in His own timing.
In addition to teaching on Sundays, we felt led to start a prayer mee
ting/mid-week service on Wednesdays, and visit th e elderly members in their homes on a weekly basis for prayer and Bible reading. My wife MJ has also taken on teaching a youth group Bible study on Tuesdays, as well as a free English class for that age group. I have an English class on Fridays for those who are little too old for the youth group, but still want to brush up and practice their language skills.
